Another year passed!

Well here we are at the end of another year. A very busy year for golf holidays direct and as we take stock and prepare for what looks like being another equally busy one, we would like to fill you in on developments in the golf world here on the Costa del Sol and beyond.

Firstly, we’d like to thank all of our clients both new and old for their business during the year. We are lucky to have a tremendously loyal client base who return to the Costa del Sol and Algarve year in and year out and often many times in a year. It’s a pleasure to be part of your Golf Experience and we take great pride in ensuring that you return to us year after year.

2020 will see significant investments here on the Costa del Sol – the major ones are outlined below.

As ever our advice to anyone planning a trip is to do so as far in advance as possible in order to avail of the discounts and lock in your preferred tee-times.

Major Investments ongoing in the Costa del Sol’s Golf infrastructure.

Here are a few of the ongoing and soon to commence investments in the Golf and accommodation sectors in the Cost del Sol. These will impact on availability during 2020.

Almenara Hotel & Golf Resort.

Somewhat surprising news is that the Almenara Golf Hotel & Spa Resort has closed its doors at the end of this October and will reopen in a year. So the golf and Hotel are closed until November 2020. A massive investment is planned which will see the hotel transformed into a 5 star and the 27-hole course completely renovated.

San Roque Old Course.

And not to be outdone San Roque Golf Club under new Russian ownership has decided to close the Old course again for one year to make a massive investment in the course and a total refurb of the Clubhouse and add a new onsite hotel.

The San Roque New course will remain open during this work.

Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club Benahavis.

With magnificent views of the Mediterranean this Seve Ballesteros designed golf course offers the complete “lifestyle” package for you and your family, on the Costa Del Sol.

The 18 hole golf course presents golfers with a true “Seve test” and the new 19^th – “Seves´ Kitchen and Bar”, is offering a superb varied menu, in a relaxing and friendly atmosphere.

But Los Arqueros is so much more than just a golf course. A new, state of the art, Fitness Centre, has been added providing clients with activities across 5 distinct zones – spinning, weights, yoga etc all under the guidance of experienced trainers and there is a also a Beauty Salon onsite.

But there is more, a new Tennis Academy which will have 11 Tennis and 2 Padel courts, plus a Ten Pin Bowling Alley with its own bar “STRIKE” will be open in February

And finally, after the days´ activities and a quick siesta you can finish off each day in style with dinner in the soon to be opened restaurant “La View”.

Fuerte Hotel Marbella.

The very popular Fuerte Hotel in Marbella is to close in September 2020 for a complete refurbishment and will reopen in 2021 as a five star! In the meantime, the Fuerte sister hotel the Amare (200m away) is a good substitute as is the 4 star Princessa Playa.

Hotel Princessa Playa Marbella.

Golf Experience has recently contracted rooms at the 4 star Princessa Playa (aparthotel) situated on the beachfront in Marbella between the Fuerte and the Amare hotel. This property offers excellent value for money given its great location.

Westin La Quinta Hotel:

Another Marbella hotel which has emerged from a major revamp having changed hands is the excellent 5 star Westin La Quinta (36 holes). We have excellent rates at this 5-star property which is particularly good value for groups of 8 and over.

Morocco Lixus Hilton.

A short distance from Tangiers in North Morocco, Hilton have just opened an 18 hole Golf Resort which could be an interesting add-on to a Costa del Sol trip. Green-fees at the flat course which overlooks the Atlantic are as little as €35 and caddies a further modest €15.

In addition to this, Tangiers has the second oldest golf course in Africa and is just on the outskirts of the city. It is feasible to include a round here while on a day trip to Tangiers from the Costa del Sol. The Lixus Hilton would require an overnight stay but comfort & luxury is guaranteed.

New Dates for the Valderrama Andalucía Masters 2020.

Next years Valderrama Andalucía Masters will take place from April 30^th to 3^rd May.

The course will be closed for visitors from 20^th April – 5^th May. The annual maintenance will take place from June 8^th – 26^th.

Transport

Our regular clients will take comfort form the fact that we have signed an exclusive deal with the Costa’s leading transport company. We understand the key role that transport makes in the success of a golf trip.

Punctuality, comfort and experienced drivers are what make the difference. All our 2020 transfers will be made with GARCATRI SL. The service includes complimentary water and WIFI.

Car Hire.

Also 2020 will see us continue to collaberate with ESPACAR who we consider to be the best car hire company in the area for service and reliability. The secret of our growing success with ESPACAR is the inclusion of all possible charges so the price we give you is what you pay an not a cent more. The only things not covered are loss of keys and damage to wheels / tires.

The meet & greet service at Malaga Airport ensure you are away in double quick time. Likewise on your return you drop the car in the express car park and go get your flight. No formalities at all !

The only complaint we get about Esparcar at Malaga Airport is that Antonio walks too fast !!!

Club-Hire 2020

In 2020 Golf Experience can offer you the full range of Top Brands on the Costa del Sol and Algarve.

We deliver clubs free of charge to your first golf club and collect them on your last day. In addition to our own 50 sets – a mix of Taylor Made M4 and MacGregor sets, we can also supply the full range of other major brands through our affiliate programme with Clubs-to-hire who have outlets at Malaga and Faro airports in addition to many others.

Group Excursions.

We are receiving more requests from bigger groups to include day excursions to fill a possible break from golf during a week’s visit to the Costa del Sol. Over the years we have developed excellent excursion options for either a full or half day. Or as an add-on before or after a round of golf.

These Include:

Ronda – The picturesque town of Ronda which is a one-hour drive from the coast can be either a half day trip or a full day to include a vineyard and wine tasting.

Gibraltar: Gibraltar is a convenient half day excursion.

Morocco – an unforgettable full day excursion crossings the Straits of Gibraltar and visiting the city of Tangiers.

Casares – The white village of Casares can be an add on after a round at any of the courses west of Marbella.

Camino del Rey

This very popular walking trip just north of Malaga is the Camino del Rey which is a spectacular reconstructed walkway thorough the mountains originally built for railroad workers in the 19^th century.

Other city options doable in the day include:

Granada & the Alhambra.
Cordoba and the Mezquita
Seville.
