Question:
FAQ Question

Answer:
Without exception all courses say they insist on golfers having handicap certificates. However, in reality the courses use this as a policing devise. We would estimate that if golf courses turned away everyone not in procession of a handicap certificate they would all go out of business. Realistically many regular and passionate golfers do not have current handicap certificates for a myriad of good reasons.

Caddie-masters are more concerned that golf etiquette and dress code are adhered to. So, if you look like a golfer, speak like a golfer and behave like a golfer there shouldn’t be any problem. Slow play is one sure way to have marshals checking handicap certificates!

Having said all that the clubs retain the right to insist on seeing handicap certificates.
A couple of courses will ask automatically and these include Valderrama and Real Club de Golf Sotogrande.
